Well hello there , here is my first attempt to talk to you via this new fangled media.
They tell me my pen and paper have been assigned to antiquity. However I still may have to find it now and again or I will be totally lost.
So, what news ?
The Lougborough Autumn Dance Festival which our competition team has just taken part in.
This year, for the first time, it was held at a new venue The Hodson Hall Theatre at Loughborough Grammar School and our team of dancers were on the same footing as all the other participating schools, no familiar stage where we have done the school show for years. How would we cope? The same as everyone else was Barbara’s reply and cope we certainly did. What a venue, What facilities, the food always a key part of the festival was supplied this year by Helen North and her team of helpers( who in the past always assisted the very able Betty) the talk was all about fish and chips and chocolate hay stacks forget the dancing just pile on the pounds. !!!
But of course we didn’t forget the dancing and neither did any of the other 14 schools who were competing. The Dance Studios, a very friendly , super school from Nottingham, certainly gave Charnwood a run for their money as did Staples School. During the week the East Midland were well represented but by the end of the week competitors were coming from as far afield as Yorkshire and Tyne & Wear.
I will try and give you all a compete run down on my next ‘blog’ but for now here’s just a bit of news We won the overall Teacher’s Award for the school with the Highest total of Marks and almost all of the Charnwood competitors came away with a Medal. I must also mention Lucy Rice, who for the second year running, a fete rarely achieved, won the Bursary award for the most outstanding dancer of the festival. Looking back through our records I think the only other person in the school who has achieved this over the past 30 odd years was, when she was a pupil of Miss Helen’s, Miss Rachael at the old Nottingham Stage Dance Festival twice and both times with her Ballet solo.
So Very Well Done Lucy. ( see back row of photo tallest girl with a ponytail)
